Our Commitment

MumWell is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We strive to continually improve the user experience for everyone, including those with visual, hearing, cognitive, and motor impairments. As a health application supporting mothers during pregnancy and postpartum, accessibility is fundamental to our mission.

Standards

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines provide a framework of recommendations for making web content more accessible. Our ongoing efforts include:

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
  • ARIA labels and roles on interactive elements
  • Keyboard navigation support throughout the application
  • Sufficient colour contrast ratios for text and interactive elements
  • Responsive design that works across screen sizes and zoom levels
  • Focus management for modals, dropdowns, and navigation menus

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:

  • Some charts and data visualisations in health trackers may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We provide text alternatives where possible.
  • Third-party embedded content may not meet our accessibility standards.

We are actively working to address these limitations and improve accessibility across all features.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

MumWell is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation
